Mini Reviews Take Two

With how hectic my life has been, I’ve done up some more mini-reviews of NetGalley’s I’ve received recently. I was sadly unable to give each book my completely undivided attention, but I tried my best.

I really enjoyed this book and hope that it sells amazingly enough internationally to be turned into the next big anime series. As a huge fan of Japanese mythology as well as the classic anime trope of demon fox girls, I adored this book from cover to cover and can’t wait for the sequel to come out! Spice and Wolf meets Naruto with a hint of Inu Yasha. Can’t go wrong.

I requested this book because I wanted to do more reading into Middle Grade fiction for research purposes with my own writing, but I found this one a little too far down on the recommended age range for me. I’m sure children will love it, but it just wasn’t for me.

Author: Matt Lucas
Status: Read

I very rarely read memoirs or autobiographies from celebrities. I just don’t have the attention span for it most of the time and with the exception of Carrie Fisher, I find them to be more than a little boring. However, I liked Matt Lucas’s book. It was a very personal account told in a dictionary-like format which added to making this autobiography a little more attention grabbing for me. For lack of a better term, I like when celebrities talk about their dislike for themselves as I find it humanizes them a little bit more. I will always enjoy Matt as The Only Gay In The Village in Little Britain and definitely enjoyed his autobiography.

I really thought that this was going to be a book I would really sink my teeth into, but instead found myself rather bored. I keep thinking I like historical fiction but when I’m berated by so many facts, I just can’t focus on the story at hand. Sadly, not my cup of tea.
