REVIEW: The Crimes of Grindlewald

It’s been a week since the newest Harry Potter film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald has been released, so I think it’s okay to post my review of the script.

I have been fairly vocal about my dislike of Johnny Depp and his abusive actions not only in the Amber Herd situation, but in several other instances regarding his horrid behaviour as well as the horrid behaviour of several others on the set of the newest Fantastic Beasts film ( x | x | x | x ). I stand by my decision to not see the film because if I’m going to have to support a toxic person because of my love for Harry Potter, I’ll stick to the lesser of two evils and buy the script book rather than support a monster on screen.

So, this is a review that I have found myself stumped on when it comes to writing. I have tried approaching this review several different ways since binge reading the script the day of the release, but just can’t find the right words to deal with it.

There are far too many moral conflicts regarding the production staff and cast for me to see it in film and while the script was well written, it was jam packed with poor characterization, lazy explanations, and many more issues. It’s hard for me to criticize it as Harry Potter means so much to me, it is physically painful for me. I decided it isn’t doing anything to crap all over it like my critical eye wants to do, so I’m not going to do that. Anyone who wants my honest, unedited opinion need only ask.

Let me just finish by saying one thing: my heart is heavy with my ever (and rapidly) growing dislike of the woman who changed my life but refuses to grow with her audience.
